HAZZARD STEALS WINDSOR’S CHRISTMAS
Today, in an outrageous display of contempt for the people of NSW, Minister Hazzard has attempted to sneak through an approval for the flawed Windsor Bridge project, just FIVE days out from Christmas.
Despite the paperwork sitting on his desk for three months; Minister for Planning, Brad Hazzard has chosen to wait until now to sign off on a project that will destroy the oldest town square in Australia.
In approving this strategically inept project; Minister Hazzard has ignored the overwhelming evidence of the government’s own experts...evidence that demonstrates this project fails to deliver on traffic, flooding and heritage.
CAWB Chairman Dail Miller says the government’s behavior is completely unacceptable. “The Minister knows this is a very contentious project. Trying to sneak this announcement through at this time of year just shows how completely out of touch the Minister is.”
The announcement also comes just days after Community Action for Windsor Bridge published an open letter about the project in the local media. CAWB member and sixth generation Hawkesbury resident, Pete Reynolds thinks there may be a connection. “Payback,” he says “an immature response to justified criticism of the government’s incompetent and embarrassing lack of strategic planning.”
Community Action for Windsor Bridge is currently consulting their legal advisors regarding the Minister’s announcement.
Long time CAWB member, Harry Terry says the Government has no idea what they have got themselves into. “This isn’t the end of the protests” he says. “CAWB volunteers have continuously occupied Thompson Square since 21 July this year. We are not going away.”
