Myth - The Bridge Will Provide Flood Free Access
In a community newsletter to his constituents in Member for Hawkesbury, Ray Williams, stated the new bridge will "provide flood free access for residents of Wilberforce, Glossodia... ...and other areas west of the Hawkesbury River."
In the words of RMS : “This project has nothing to do with flood relief – it is not a flood evacuation project”. The RMS has admitted that minor flood immunity would apply to the bridge but " ...the northern approach roads would still be inundated" . This means that during times of flood the Option 1 Bridge cannot be used as all the Northern approach roads would be under water. Essentially, the Option 1 cannot be crossed during times of flood as it would be impossible to approach. (RMS Updated Question and Answers dated August 2012).
