Public Rally to Save Thompson Square
Jennifer Butler 4 June 2012 Hundreds of people converged on Thompson Square on 3 June 2012 to support CAWB and send a clear message to the decision makers: "Save our Square" and "Bypass Now!" A host of guest speakers and music artists addressed and entertained the public including popular local band "Mr Breeze", Opposition Leader John Robertson and special guest speaker Jack Mundey. Jack Mundey is a builders labourers leader and was a key organiser of the Builders Labourers Federation’s campaigns to protect Sydney’s heritage and environmentally significant sites from negative development in the 1970s. Other speakers included: Local Member Keven Connelly, CAWB spokesperson Dail Miller, local student Natlie Buckett and local business woman Sue Wingate. |
